I remember looking at
the spaceship Earth. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. We need to
take care of it. ~

Sunday, June 17, LTD summer bus
service changes go into effect. These changes are adjustments to the level of
service provided during the summer when the UO, LCC, 4J, and District 19
enter their summer sessions. LTD also will relocate the Lane County
Fairgrounds Park & Ride during fair week to accommodate summer events at
the fairgrounds. Click here for a complete listing of the Summer
Service Adjustments.
The Student Transit
Pass Program (STPP) that has allowed students in grades 6 – 12 to ride LTD
for free will end after June 30, 2007. This three-year research
program has completed its work and funding will not be continued beyond the
current 2006-07 school year.
For
this summer, LTD is offering students a special three-month pass covering
July, August, and September, for $19.95. The Summer Youth Pass gives students
an opportunity to ride anytime and anywhere from June 1 through September 30,
2007. Semperian LLC has been a member of the
community since 1999 and a Lane Transit District Group Pass member since
2000. Semperian, an inbound call
center dealing with GMAC and National Auto Finance questions, has several
offices throughout the United States.
Their local office on Country Club Road employs over 350 people. With
committed and involved ETC Stephanie
Jenks at the helm, Semperian advocates for transportation options for
their employees, hosting Transportation Fairs each year and participating in
the recent Get on Board! campaign
to increase bus ridership. Stephanie
has led Semperian to FIVE victories in the City of
Eugene’s Business Commute Challenge. Her competitive edge has inspired other
businesses to try to take away their title. Maybe your business will want to take
them on this year! Stephanie likes a good challenge. Commuter Solutions will be inserting
the name of an Employee Transportation Coordinator into each issue of the ETC
Bulletin. If you spot your name in the bulletin, you will win a $25 gift
certificate to River Ranch West Bros. BBQ.
To claim your prize, call Marcia Maffei at 682-6206. Just to make it interesting, we will be
spelling your name backwards! LTD Offers Free Shuttles to Summer Events Now is the time to enjoy some of our
favorite events. Take a break and take the bus to the Lane County Fair, the
Freedom Festival, Butte to Butte race, and more. Click here for details on LTD

Help! It cost me $49 ($3.37/gal) to
fill up my tank yesterday. It’s so
expensive to commute to work these days.
What can a person do to save money? Strapped & Stranded Dear Stranded, Have you ever thought about
carpooling? Carpools are very flexible
– you make arrangements with the other members of your carpool on sharing
cost and driving. From once a week to
every day, it’s your choice. When you share the cost of commuting, you save
money, and carpooling helps ease traffic congestion in the community and
reduce air pollution emissions. Commuter Solutions offers a computerized
matching service. It’s free and it’s
easy. Just submit a rideshare
registration online. You will receive a match list tailored to your work
time and commute route. You may be
surprised at how easy it is and how much money you can save. (Dear Readers, stay
tuned for more helpful hints in the next ETC Bulletin!) Commuter Solutions Welcomes New Program Participants ~ Capella Market [ERH] ~ Comfort Suites [GPP & ERH] ~ Organic Materials Review Institute
