2015 Business Commute Challenge Kick-Off Party
The 2015 Business Commute Challenge (BCC) team is hosting a kick-off party for participants and anyone who is interested in learning more about the 2015 BCC. Stop by Oakshire Brewing at 207 Madison St., Thursday, April 30, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. to listen to music, enjoy some pizza, and have fun. Event sign-up will be available and BCC Team Captains who have already signed up can pick up their promotion kit and get ideas on how to maximize their team’s participation.
What is the Business Commute Challenge?
BCC is a weeklong friendly competition – workplace against workplace – to see who can use transit, walk, bike, carpool, or telework the most for their commute, rather than driving alone.
The BCC will take place Saturday, May 9 - Friday, May 15.
Organizers of the 2015 BCC have lined up another great year of activities and prizes for participating teams. Prizes include a party bus tour for twenty to Agrarian Ale, a Breezer Bike, a night at the coast, gift cards to local businesses, and more. The week is filled with fun events and activities, including “Poker Walkabouts” in both Springfield and Eugene, events on the bike paths, and much more!
In 2014 more than 1,900 community employees representing 175 business teams reduced drive-alone miles by 68,987. That equates to 70,234 pounds of carbon dioxide saved!
Visit commutechallenge.org for more details, to sign-up, and to check out all of the ways you can win prizes.
The BCC event is managed by Point2point at Lane Transit District and is sponsored by Pacific Source, Umpqua Bank, Arriving By Bike™, Pauls’ Bicycle Way of Life the City of Eugene, the City of Springfield, Clif Bar, Mix FM 94.5, New Country 93.3, and Lane Transit District.
Point2point promotes and offers transportation options programs to Lane County businesses, organizations, and educational institutions for their employees, staff, and students. It is supported by Lane County’s jurisdictions and is a part of Lane Transit District.
