Shine a Light on Halloween and Standard Time

October 21, 2021
With Halloween just around the corner and Daylight Savings Time transitioning to Standard Time on Sun., Nov. 7, Lane Transit District (LTD) is helping the community to “Be Seen at Your Stop.”

Beginning Mon., Oct. 25, bus passengers and community members can pick up a free pedestrian light from a bus operator or pick one up at the LTD Customer Service Center at 1080 Willamette St., Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Clip-on Bike lights are also available at the Customer Service Center. Pedestrian and clip-on bike lights are only available while supplies last.

When it is dark, foggy, or rainy, pedestrians and cyclists who use lights help bus operators see them waiting at bus stops and help other drivers see them when walking and biking to and from the bus stop. Other tips for being seen at a bus stop include:
  • Standing up as the bus approaches your stop.
  • Using a cell phone or light to signal the bus operator.
  • Wearing light-colored, bright, or reflective clothing.
  • When walking, face oncoming traffic.

The “Be Seen at Your Stop” initiative is funded from resources provided by the state of Oregon and LTD.
