In early July, the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) will begin work on Garfield Street to relocate electrical services outside the Lane Transit District (LTD) West Eugene EmX project footprint. Crews will work on weekdays primarily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at several sites between West 6th and 11th Avenues. EWEB will maintain access to all property and businesses and will provide advance notice prior to any scheduled electrical outage. Motorists can expect portions of single traffic lanes to be restricted in the work areas. EWEB anticipates the electrical work will take approximately three weeks.

When EWEB is finished, LTD expects that other utilities will relocate their natural gas and communications services on Garfield Street where needed. By fall, utility relocation is expected to begin along West 11th Avenue between Commerce and Garfield Streets. Meanwhile, road and sidewalk construction for the West Eugene EmX extension is proceeding on Charnelton Street and on West 6th and 7th Avenues.

LTD invites the public to sign up for project information. Construction updates and traffic advisories are issued weekly, and a project overview is distributed every two months. Sign up at weemx.ltd.org or e-mail LTD at weemx@ltd.org. You also can visit the West Eugene EmX project website at weemx.ltd.org.
