LTD Introduces TouchPass Electronic Fares!
Taking riders where they want to go with the swipe of a mobile device or tap card!
TouchPass is an electronic fare payment system, allowing riders the flexibility to prepay and reload fare value to a mobile device or tap card. Electronic readers are installed on all buses, except EmX, next to the fare box. Once an account is set up and fare value added, riders can scan their mobile device or tap card at the electronic reader when boarding. This new program reduces boarding times, improves rider experience, and reduces more than 85,000 non-recyclable bus passes each year.
An account can be set up by downloading the TouchPass Transit app through an app store (Apple or Google Play). Riders can then purchase a pass or add value to the Stored Value account for future fare purchases, all from the convenience of a mobile phone.
TouchPass Tap Card
TouchPass tap cards are available for purchase at the LTD Customer Service Center at 1080 Willamette St., 7 am – 7 pm, Mon – Fri. Each reloadable tap card is $3. Tap card are activated by setting up an account at TouchPass.org. Riders can then purchase a pass or add value to the Stored Value account for future fare purchases
Learn more about the benefit of Stored Value in the Frequently Asked Questions link below.
Riders should plan to establish a TouchPass account and purchase fare before preparing to board the bus. All LTD buses, except EmX, are equipped with a TouchPass reader. When ready to board, face the mobile device in front of the TouchPass reader with the TouchPass app activated. Once the QR code has been read, the fare is accepted! Riders should keep their device available to show fare inspectors when riding EmX.
Please note that as of January 1, 2020, LTD will no longer provide paper monthly passes. All monthly fare will require either the mobile app or tap card.
While TouchPass is a convenient way to pay for fare , LTD will continue to accept cash and day passes from riders to pay for fare.
