New Mural Graces LTD's Eugene Station During Remodel

February 27, 2024

Lane Transit District is in the midst of an improvement project at Eugene Station, the central hub of LTD's transit system. The $3.8 million investment will provide long-lasting improvements that will serve the community well into the future.

The construction created a large, blank temporary wall. As part of LTD’s commitment to incorporating art into its infrastructure, a public art installation will be unveiled later this week.

Muralist Liza Burns was brought in to liven up the area with vitality and beauty. The mural is 8 feet high and 24 feet wide, with “a focus on transportation options in a fun and playful way,” said Burns. The mural will remain in place throughout the remodel, estimated to be completed this summer.

Recent work from Burns includes a mural in the lobby of the new Eugene Family YMCA, as well as the “Celebrate Oregon!” Oregon Cultural Trust license plate.

LTD reached out to three local muralists and asked them to submit a design for consideration. The winning artist was selected by a team of LTD employees.
