With the Fall Service Change on September 7, 2025, the Downtown Loop replaced Route 1, serving a larger geographic area with more frequent service. Look for bus stops with the Downtown Loop logo or view the route map below to see where the route can take you.
What will this project do?
The City of Eugene and LTD began a two-year pilot in fall 2025 to improve bus service in Downtown Eugene. The updated bus route modifies LTD’s Route 1 to serve a larger geographic area, increase frequency to every 30 minutes, and offer trips later into the evening. The new route began on September 7, 2025, and will conclude in summer 2027. At that time, its route and frequency may change depending on how the pilot performs and availability of funding.
Outcomes & Community Impact
Downtown Eugene is changing, with more high-density housing and a new City Hall in the Riverfront neighborhood. Improving transportation to these developed areas, as well as established businesses and homes, makes it easier for people living and working downtown to access services like grocery stores, pharmacies, healthcare providers, jobs, and schools.
Budget
The City of Eugene and LTD received a State of Oregon grant specifically designed to test new transportation options. The existing costs of LTD’s current Route 1 will also help fund the pilot.
