Description

The City of Eugene and LTD began a two-year pilot in fall 2025 to improve bus service in Downtown Eugene. The updated bus route modifies LTD’s Route 1 to serve a larger geographic area, increase frequency to every 30 minutes, and offer trips later into the evening. The new route began on September 7, 2025, and will conclude in summer 2027. At that time, its route and frequency may change depending on how the pilot performs and availability of funding.

Purpose

The City of Eugene and Lane Transit District are launching a two-year pilot in fall 2025 to improve bus service in Downtown Eugene. The updated bus route will modify LTD’s existing Route 1 to serve a larger geographic area, increase frequency to every 30 minutes, and offer trips later into the evening. The new route will begin on September 7, 2025, and conclude in summer 2027. At that time, its route and frequency may change depending on how the pilot performs and availability of funding.

Outcomes & Community Impact

Downtown Eugene is changing, with more high-density housing and a new City Hall in the Riverfront neighborhood. Improving transportation to these developed areas, as well as established businesses and homes, makes it easier for people living and working downtown to access services like grocery stores, pharmacies, healthcare providers, jobs, and schools.

From Eugene Station the Downtown Loop travels east on 10th Ave., left on High St., right on 4th Ave., left on Mill St.,  left on 3rd Street, left on Pearl St., right on 18th Ave., right on Oak St., left on E 11th Ave., then turns into Eugene Station on Willamette Street.
