Fixed Route Bus Stop ADA Assessment

Active

Date Created:
Fall 2025

Budget:
$355,000

A woman in a wheelchair wearing a sash and crown boards a city bus using a wheelchair ramp on a sunny day.

LTD is launching a systemwide review of all 1,020+ bus stops to ensure they meet current ADA accessibility standards. The project will document existing conditions, identify challenges, recommend improvements, and develop a prioritized plan to improve safety and accessibility for all riders. This work will support mobility across Lane County and guide future investments in stop amenities, shelters, lighting, and pedestrian access.

What will this project do?

LTD is launching a comprehensive, system wide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) assessment of every fixed-route bus stop—more than 1,020 stops across Lane County, including 170 with shelters.

The project will evaluate each stop’s compliance with the (ADA) and the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).

The assessment will identify:

  • Which stops meet current accessibility standards
  • What improvements are needed at non-compliant stops
  • Estimated costs, feasibility, and right-of-way constraints
  • Recommended priorities and a phased implementation plan

The goal is to ensure LTD’s bus stops are safe, accessible, and functional for all riders, including older adults, individuals with disabilities, and anyone who faces mobility challenges.

Budget

The total project budget is $355,000
