What will this project do?
Lane County’s transit network is served by multiple providers operating across a large geographic area. Today, those services are often planned and managed separately, making it difficult for riders to understand all of their transportation options, and challenging for agencies to coordinate service improvements.
Regional Mobility-Enabling Service Hub (Regional MESH) is an innovative transportation project led by Lane Transit District (LTD) that will create new tools, technology, and services to improve mobility throughout Lane County.
The project will:
- Create a regional transit planning and management platform that brings together transit data from multiple providers.
- Improve public access to transit information through enhanced multimodal trip-planning tools.
- Pilot a new Mobility on Demand service in the Bethel area that will provide flexible transportation options for students, families, and community members.
- Support more informed, data-driven transportation planning and decision-making.
- Advance equitable access to transportation for low-income households, seniors, youth, and people with disabilities.
Regional MESH helps move LTD toward its long-term vision of serving as a regional mobility manager, improving coordination among transportation providers and making it easier for people to connect to jobs, school, healthcare, recreation, and other essential destinations.
Budget
Regional MESH is funded through a combination of federal and state transportation funding.

The project is funded through the Advanced Transportation Technologies and Innovative Mobility Deployment (ATTAIN) Program administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) leveraged using Oregon’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF).

Regional MESH is designed to deliver benefits for transit riders, local communities, transportation providers, and regional partners.
Improved Access to Transportation
Residents will have better access to information about available transit services through integrated trip-planning tools that make it easier to identify and use transportation options throughout Lane County.
Better Regional Coordination
Transportation providers will gain access to shared planning tools and data that support more coordinated and efficient service planning.
More Equitable Mobility
The project prioritizes improvements for populations that often experience transportation barriers, including:
- Students and youth
- Older adults
- People with disabilities
- Low-income households
- Residents of rural and underserved communities
Mobility on Demand Pilot in Bethel
A new Mobility on Demand pilot service in the Bethel area will explore flexible transportation options that help connect people to:
- Schools
- After-school activities
- Employment opportunities
- Community services
- Essential destinations
Data-Driven Decision Making
Regional MESH will provide transportation planners with new insights into travel patterns and community needs, helping agencies deliver more responsive and effective services over time.
National Innovation
The project will serve as a model for other communities looking to improve regional transportation coordination through technology and mobility management strategies.
