Deadline For Free Student Transit Pass Approaches

October 11, 2021

Halloween, Oct. 31, 2021, is the deadline for area public and private school students in grades K through 12 to pick up a Student Transit Pass tap card or download the new Umo Mobility app to continue riding for free aboard Lane Transit District (LTD) buses.

Lane County students can receive their pass by using an electronic tap card or the new Umo Mobility app for free from their school. Once loaded with a “free pass,” the pass is good until Sept. 30, 2022. If a student’s school is not enrolled in the Student Transit Pass Program, please have them email Cammie.Harris@LTD.org to get set up. The Rhody Express in Florence, Cottage Grove Connector, and Diamond Express to Oakridge are excluded from the Student Transit Pass program.

Until October 31, students in grades K through 12 will continue to inform the bus operator they are students to ride the bus. More information about the Student Transit Pass is available online.

Free student transit fares are made available through a grant to LTD from the state of Oregon’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) approved through House Bill 2017.

As a reminder, federal mandates require that all passengers wear a mask covering their face and nose when using public transit, including on LTD buses and the District’s property.
