Five New LTD Buses Hit The Road, Five More On Their Way
Five new Lane Transit District (LTD) buses have hit the road, and five more will soon follow. The 40-foot buses were built by Gillig at their factory in Livermore, California.
The 10 new buses, fueled by 99% sustainable diesel (R99), cost between $707,000 and $711,000 each (the fluctuation is due to tariffs). The buses were paid for with funding from the Federal Transit Administration.
“Getting new buses ready for service takes a lot of collaboration, both internally and with our vendors,” said Eric Evers, LTD’s Director of Fleet Management. “Our crew did incredible work on these new buses and we remain committed to caring for them throughout their lifespan to ensure they serve our community safely and reliably.”
The first of the new buses rolled onto LTD’s Glenwood lot in May, with the last one arriving in July. Evers estimates that each bus received over 24 hours of work by LTD staff.
