Get the Free Student Pass by December 30, or Pay Fare January 1

December 6, 2021
Area students in Kindergarten through 12th grade have until Dec. 30, 2021, to sign up for a free Student Transit Pass. Without the free Student Transit Pass, students will need to pay bus fare beginning Jan. 1, 2022.

At any time before Dec. 30, 2021, or before winter break begins, Lane County students can receive an electronic tap card from their school or information on how to use the new Umo Mobility smartphone app. Once loaded, students can use the “free pass” to travel aboard LTD buses to school, activities, work, and entertainment until Sept. 30, 2022.

If a student’s school is not enrolled in the free Student Transit Pass Program, please email Cammie.Harris@LTD.org to get set up.

The Rhody Express in Florence, Cottage Grove Connector, and Diamond Express to Oakridge are excluded from the Free Student Transit Pass program.

Free student transit fares are made available through a grant to LTD from the state of Oregon’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) approved through House Bill 2017. LTD administers the program in partnership with school districts and private schools. More than 135 schools are eligible for the program.

As a reminder, federal mandates require that all passengers wear a mask covering their face and nose when using public transit, including on LTD buses and the District’s property.

Learn more about the Student Transit Pass on the LTD website.

A complete list of LTD bus schedules is also available online.
