Lane Transit District Announces Creation of Community Steering Council
Lane Transit District is inviting members of the public to apply to serve on a newly established Community Steering Council (CSC). The CSC is an ad hoc committee that will be comprised of community members charged with providing input, advice, and recommendations to LTD leadership and staff about the development of a Community Outreach Framework. The Community Outreach Framework will serve as a foundational guide for how LTD works alongside the public moving forward on initiatives to improve transportation and quality of life.
Beginning in September 2023, the CSC will meet every other week for three months, or approximately six meetings. Each meeting will be no longer than two hours in duration. In exchange for time and expertise, and to decrease barriers to participation, CSC members will receive a stipend for each meeting attended.
The CSC will meet at LTD's Glenwood Administrative Office at 3500 E. 17th Ave. from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the following dates: September 13 & 27, October 11 & 25, and November 8 & 29.
Working together, LTD and the community will reimagine a transportation system that is more connected, sustainable, innovative, and equitable—and one that is built on trust, respect, and integrity through thoughtful collaboration. This requires a community outreach strategy that meets the needs of the communities LTD serves. The CSC is one part of a greater Community Outreach and Communications Assessment (COCA) that LTD is currently undertaking.
For more information on the COCA and to apply to serve on the CSC, visit LTD.org/COCA. Applications will be accepted until August 8, 2023.
