LTD & AMTRAK: One-Ticket to and From Oakridge

May 27, 2021
With AMTRAK’s two daily roundtrips between Eugene and Portland restored to service, passengers on Lane Transit District’s (LTD) Diamond Express bus, which connects Oakridge with the Eugene AMTRAK station, can again purchase their bus and rail tickets directly through AMTRAK.

“LTD is pleased to continue to partner with AMTRAK to streamline travel to Oakridge from the AMTRAK Station,” said Aurora Jackson, LTD’s General Manager. “We are grateful to Congressman Peter DeFazio for moving Congress to restore funding for AMTRAK so that we can again make traveling across the District easier for LTD and AMTRAK passengers to connect with the people and to the places that are important to them.”

According to Eugene’s The Register-Guard, on Monday, May 24, Congressman DeFazio led the charge in Congress to negotiate $1.7 billion to be included in the national economic recovery plan to reinstate all Amtrak services to normal operations. Amtrak services were reduced because of low ridership during the pandemic, including down to one daily roundtrip between Eugene and Portland.

In addition to the two daily roundtrips between Eugene and Portland, other AMTRAK routes with stops in Eugene include the Coast Starlight (Seattle to Los Angeles) and Cascades (Vancouver, British Columbia, to Eugene).
