On Saturday, March 21, 2020, Lane Transit (LTD) will provide a Sunday-level of bus service on Saturdays and Sundays; and a modified Saturday-level of service Monday through Friday.  Route 92 Lowell and Route 96 Coburg will have limited service on Monday through Friday. All changes are in effect until further notice.

“We know that this service level transition is a change to what LTD announced earlier in the week, but like so many organizations, the District’s response to COVID-19 coronavirus changes based on information from health authorities and available resources,” said Aurora Jackson, LTD’s general manager. “All LTD’s service adjustments are to reduce potential exposure to the coronavirus for our bus operators and passengers. Health and safety are LTD’s number one concern.”

In addition, LTD has announced that bus service is now free to all passengers. Passengers are asked to enter and exit the bus from its rear doors, until further notice. Older adults and people with disabilities can still use the bus’s front door for access.

“Making bus service free eliminates the need to linger during boarding and unnecessary interaction between bus operators and passengers where exposure to the coronavirus could easily be shared,” Jackson said. “LTD will address how to ensure pass-holders are provided value for their pre-purchased fare, and we will be communicating that process as it is developed in the coming days.”

LTD’s RideSource ADA service will reduce to operate from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The RideSource Shopper has been suspended for now. RideSource is encouraging customers to only schedule trips that are essential.

LTD’s administrative offices in Glenwood and the Customer Service Counter at the Eugene Station are closed. For those with questions for the administrative team, they should call 541-682-6101.  Customer service questions can be answered by calling 541-687-5555.

LTD continues to clean buses daily with strong, but safe disinfectants. As an added precaution, District employees are cleaning buses during the weekday afternoons at the Eugene and Springfield stations at high ridership times.

“While LTD has increased its cleaning efforts, we recommend that people only ride the bus when their trip is absolutely necessary,” Jackson said.

LTD has also cancelled all scheduled public meetings until further notice. This includes the monthly Board of Directors' meeting and work sessions. LTD’s Board of Directors and executive team are exploring technology solutions to schedule public meetings in the coming weeks that don’t require a face-to-face presence.

“We understand that these precautions are inconvenient and seem to change frequently,” Jackson said. “We are adjusting our operations as this ever-changing situation dictates based on the best available information from federal, state and local health authorities to keep our employees and all passengers safe and healthy.”

For bus schedules and other information, passengers should consult the Rider’s Digest or the LTD web site at www.LTD.org.

LTD passengers are encouraged to check the LTD website for updates (www.LTD.org) or to call the Customer Service Center at 541-687-5555 (7-1-1 TTY), 541-682-5558 (Fax) or 800-248-3861 (Toll free).
