LTD Offers Free Rides to Cooling Centers

With outdoor temperatures expected to reach near 100 degrees or more over the weekend and into next week, Lane Transit District will offer community members a free bus ride to and from the closest stop to the nearest designated cooling center.
Passengers will need to inform the bus operator that they are going to a cooling center so they are not charged a fare. All other passengers will need to pay fares to travel to and from their desired destinations.
Passengers are encouraged to dress appropriately, carry a water bottle, and consider preventative measures for sun exposure, such as using sun block.
In addition, passengers are asked to check Lane County’s web site for cooling center locations and hours of operation.
