LTD Takes on National Leadership Roles

September 10, 2025

Lane Transit District (LTD) will play a national role in selecting which transit research projects get funded. Chief Executive Officer Jameson Auten is the new chair of the TCRP Oversight and Project Selection (TOPS) Committee, the governing board of the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP). The TCRP develops near-term, practical solutions for public transportation (e.g., the use of red paint for EmX lanes – the TCRP might fund a study looking at the effectiveness of that color). The TCRP is sponsored by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

TOPS members are responsible for reviewing and selecting research topics, as well as evaluating a project’s effectiveness. Auten’s term as chair will last two years.

Auten was also recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), a nonprofit that represents all modes of public transportation. On behalf of its 1,600 public and private sector member organizations, including LTD, APTA does everything from advocate for funding and host educational conferences to create workforce development programs. Auten’s term on the Board will last three years.

"These national appointments are much more than personal honors—they're opportunities to elevate the innovation happening at LTD,” said Auten. “As chair of the TOPS Committee and a member of APTA’s Board, LTD will guide the future of public transportation while ensuring the voices from our community have a seat at the national table."
