Budget: $5,400,000

A blue electric bus is parked at a transit station. A man walks past, and a woman stands near a customer service sign with route information. Several people are in the background.

With an eye toward safety, security, and inclusivity, LTD completed a 10-month remodel and modernization project at Eugene Station in the Fall of 2024. Updates include improved wayfinding signage, inclusive restrooms, additional lighting, and an updated and more accessible Customer Service Center.

What will this project do?

Lane Transit District (LTD) completed the Eugene Station Modernization Project to improve accessibility, safety, and the overall customer experience at the District’s central transit hub. Located at 1080 Willamette Street, Eugene Station connects Downtown Eugene to LTD’s broader network of bus routes and serves as a key gateway to the community.

With a focus on inclusivity, safety, and long-term usability, the modernization ensures Eugene Station can continue to serve riders, employees, and visitors well into the future.

Budget

The Eugene Station Modernization Project represents a $5.4 million investment.

80% of project funding came from federal infrastructure grants.

20% was funded through local matching dollars.

This combination of federal and local investment supports critical upgrades to a long-standing public facility.

Outcomes & Community Impact

The modernization project delivered a wide range of improvements, including:

  • Enhanced accessibility through inclusive restroom upgrades and improved pedestrian surfaces
  • More welcoming environment that significantly enhances efficiency, capacity, and accessibility
  • Clearer wayfinding and signage to support easier navigation
  • Refreshed public spaces and preserved exterior features
  • Improved lighting, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency
  • Safety and security enhancements throughout the station
  • Upgraded employee facilities to support operator well-being and service reliability
  • Technology and accessibility improvements at the Next Stop Center public meeting space

Together, these improvements strengthen Eugene Station as the “heart” of LTD’s transit system and a welcoming front door to the community.
