Take LTD During College Move-In Days

September 19, 2024

Lane Transit District (LTD) is ready for the annual influx of University of Oregon (UO) and Lane Community College (LCC) students arriving in Eugene for the start of another academic year.

Every year, hundreds of UO volunteers help the incoming class move into residence halls as a part of Unpack the Quack (UPQ). This year’s UPQ will take place Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27. About 4,700 students are expected to arrive over these two days.

“Roads and parking lots in the UO area tend to be closed or congested during these move-in days, making travel around campus challenging,” said Anni Katz, LTD’s Public Information Officer. “The backup is most obvious on Franklin Boulevard, a main thoroughfare for LTD’s buses. Why not avoid this and take a bus or ride a bike?”

An LTD Day Pass for adults is $3.50 and $1.75 for youth. Fare and pass pricing is available at LTD.org and at the Customer Service centers in Eugene and Springfield stations. People can also take a PeaceHealth Rides bike, by our partners at Cascadia Mobility. Complete bus schedules are available online. View LTD service alerts online, or follow @LaneTransit on X (Twitter).

It's easy for UO students and employees, LCC students, and Pacific University students to get a free LTD bus pass. Visit the UO Transportation Services website or the LCC Bus Pass webpage for instructions on how to get started with LTD’s e-fare system called Umo

UO Transportation Services has a park-and-ride spot near Autzen Stadium for the LTD route that serves campus.
