Jump in LTD ridership attributed to the Women’s March in downtown

Lane Transit District (LTD) saw more than 20,000 passenger boardings on Saturday, January, 21, the fifth highest Saturday ridership in the past two years excluding Oregon Football game days. The increase in passenger boardings coincided with Eugene Women’s March..
In comparing data from the corresponding weekend in January of 2016, LTD reports passenger boardings were more than 150 percent of average. On January 21, 2017, LTD recorded 20,625 passenger boardings compared to 13,282 from the same weekend the previous year. During peak times this past Saturday, a dozen EmX trips carried more than 100 people at a time, with several as high as 110-120. Capacity crowds were also reported on routes serving South Eugene and River Road.
